Itinerary
- Pickup or meeting point: Meet at your hotel in Tirana or Durrës, or at our base in Bathore.
- Drive toward Bovilla: Travel by 4x4 through the countryside and into the surrounding hills.
- Bovilla Canyon stop: Pause at the canyon for photos and a short break along the way.
- Hike to the lake viewpoint: Walk about 15 minutes from the car park, including a section of steep stairs.
- Enjoy the viewpoint: Take in the lake and mountain scenery and spend some time taking photos.
- Return: Drive back to your original pickup or meeting point.

How far is Bovilla Lake from Tirana?
Bovilla Lake is about 16 km northeast of Tirana, in the mountains above the city. The drive takes about 1 hour each way, a little longer after rain, because part of the road is gravel.
Do I need a 4x4 to get to Bovilla Lake?
Part of the road is unpaved, rough and narrow, with potholes and some steep sections. Normal low cars can scrape the ground, which is why we drive there in a 4x4.
How long is the walk to the Bovilla viewpoint?
About 15 minutes from the car park. Half of the way is steep stairs, so comfortable shoes with a good grip are best.
Can you swim in Bovilla Lake?
No. Bovilla Lake is a reservoir that supplies most of Tirana's drinking water, so swimming is not allowed. It is a place for views, photos and a short hike.
When is the best time to visit Bovilla Lake?
Spring to autumn, on a dry day. Around midday the lake shows its strongest blue and green colours. After heavy rain or snow the road can be muddy or closed, so we check the conditions before every trip.
How much does the Bovilla Lake tour cost?
The price is per car, not per person: from 8,000 lek (1–2 people, meeting at our base in Bathore), or 10,000 lek for 1–2 people and 12,000 lek for 3–4 people with pickup from your hotel in Tirana. Fuel and your driver-guide are included.
