Bovilla Lake in Every Season

You can visit Bovilla Lake all year: our Bovilla tour runs in every month. The view changes with the seasons, and so does the road. Here is what to expect.

See the Bovilla Lake tour

Summer

The lake is at its most turquoise and the hills are deep green. It is hot at midday, so bring water, a hat and sunscreen.

Autumn

The trees turn yellow and brown and the light is softer. A very good time for photos and for the walk.

Winter

The tour runs in winter too. Bring a warm jacket: it is colder and windier at the viewpoint than in Tirana.

Spring

The hills turn green again and the weather is mild for the walk to the viewpoint.

The road after rain or snow

The last part of the road to the lake is gravel. After heavy rain or snow it can be muddy or closed for a while, so we check the conditions before every trip and tell you if we need to change the day.

Which season is best?

For the brightest water, come in summer. For comfortable walking and autumn colours, come in autumn. Whatever the season, our 4x4 takes you up the rough road to the car park, so the season mostly changes what you wear.
